About Hacienda La Esmeralda
Hacienda La Esmeralda is one of Panama’s most iconic coffee estates and has played a major role in the story of Panamanian Geisha. The estate has been owned and managed by the Peterson family for generations, with coffee production dating back to the early 20th century.
The farm gained worldwide recognition in the early 2000s when its Geisha coffees from the Boquete highlands achieved remarkable results at the Best of Panama competition. This helped introduce the distinctive floral and fruit-driven character of Panamanian Geisha to a much wider audience and contributed to the variety’s global reputation.
Today, the Peterson family continues to produce Geisha across several distinct farms and microclimates, carefully separating lots to preserve the unique characteristics of each growing area.
About the Coffee
Porton 5FB is a washed Geisha from El Velo, grown at 1,700 metres above sea level. The washed process highlights the variety’s clarity and delicate aromatics, with notes of jasmine and orange blossom complemented by juicy apricot and elegant white grape sweetness.
The result is a clean, floral and highly expressive cup that showcases the refined character of Panamanian Geisha.
